2014 May - my first commission!
It was a gorgeous two-day shoot and I pushed my meager skills to the max. The pressure to deliver was enormous and I realized how challenging it was to capture those candid, loving moments. The reception was cosy and fun-filled. I also ended up reworking the post-processing to better match the small tidbits I've learned over the years. This set really brings back a lot of memories!
2015 August
Oh sunny days, how I learned how invaluable 1/8000 and ISO 64 can be! Travelling past Central London and seeing a bit of greenery, Hampstead Heath was a refreshing taste of open space. Picnic-prepared, the Prosecco flowed as I battled the direct sunlight. Borough Market was quite fun with the crepuscular rays providing interesting subject illumination. We wrapped up with a silhouette of London's Skyline and majestic Tower Bridge.
2015 September
A multi-themed shoot that took us through quite a bit of London. From the rugged streets of Brick Lane with it's various street art to the polished, modern architecture of EC2M, the contrast presented many diverse backdrops. Saint Paul's and James's also served as iconic locations. We hit the golden hour at the perfect moment - creating a natural, hazy flare.
2016 October
Bumpety-bump-bump! Props always add a bit of fun and flair (at least 15 pieces!). With Batman keeping a watchful eye, we shot this set completely on-prem. At some point we lost track of whose bump we were celebrating but... :)
2017 August / September
A park and a house. Clissold House to be exact. Leaving the city centre behind, new perspectives caught my eye. Rising past "just engagements", I arranged a two-day session and like a motley crew emerging from the underground, we met an unexpected beer festival. Just inside the House, a bright and cozy space held an assortment of friends and family. Moments later, as one, plate after plate of tapas were surrounded by cheer and good fun.
2018 January
There are just so many wonderful spaces in London. It makes you realize that each space, approached from different perspectives can be so truly refreshing. With that being said, 85mm and bokeh might be the only perspective I, personally, need. Gosh that transition is just so pretty. Speaking of which, let’s focus back on this experience. I remember the biting cold of winter in London, trying to sap at the jolly warmth of these two. To no avail because the smiles, the laughter, and ambiance were all a roaring flame. From Islington Town Hall to the pastel colours of Notting Hill, the streets of London continue to offer amazing potential. I still can’t put a finger on my style. I can only just say that taking photos makes me genuinely happy.
2018 June
Be it Spring or Summer, London can surprise with both a bit of gray and bright sunshine. Perfect for a multi-day shoot to capture varying tones of solid happiness. From contrasting ensemble to complementary, we took to the streets of Isle of Dog and Neal’s Yard. The sharp-eyed will spot a photobomber (or two). Of course, a pitstop at Bank is a must because these shots are just money!
